buddi supporting people with dementia

40% of people with dementia will also suffer from dementia wandering, causing considerable stress to both carer and patient and on many occasions police involvement is required. The risk to an Alzheimer’s patient increases the longer they are missing. It is a fact that wandering is the main cause for admission to care homes.

It is everyone’s objective to retain as much freedom and independence for the individual as possible whilst ensuring their safety and the peace of mind for the carer.

Support is available 24/7 either as a result of the emergency alert being pressed by the Alzheimer's patient or the carer looking up the wearer’s location in the event they have gone missing. With this tracking device boundaries can be set for the wearer alerting the carer if the wearer has gone outside of a predesignated area. buddi will also detect a sudden fall with the man-down feature. buddi should be introduced to a person with dementia early after the diagnosis so if wandering behaviour starts to develop, the person concerned will already be comfortable using buddi.

Lone worker protection and safety

Those responsible for Health and safety will be only too familiar with the increasing amount of onerous legislation facing their organisation - the recent Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act makes corporate responsibility and duty of care a key priority.

We understand that lone workers increasingly need more protection and support with backup to give them peace of mind to focus on their work rather than potential problems. They need to be able to seek help quickly in the event of a threatening or dangerous incident.

buddi is being chosen by many organisations to do just this. The buddi 24/7 CAT II ACPO registered ARC provides specialist human support in the event that an alarm is raised.

The buddi customer response centre is quality assured to British Standards and as they are registered with every police force in the UK they can, if required contact the police directly to ensure the necessary help is available immediately.

buddi is a GPS tracking device and emergency alarm - it is not a phone - it is designed solely to support wearers in an emergency situation or if they are lost. The alert can be raised covertly by simply squeezing the buttons on the side of the buddi.

buddi is a necessity for all lone workers and organisations responsible for lone workers and can become a strong pillar in ensuring your worker's safety and indemnifying yourself from culpability.

Please refer to the "why use buddi?" section for information on a range of ethical considerations around the use of Assistive Technologies and the "important legislation" section to learn more about lone worker protection and Health and Safety legislation.
